Lt Gen Pawan Chadha Reviews Advanced Facilities at Nashik Artillery Centre

Lieutenant General Pawan Chadha, SM, VSM, who commands the Maharashtra and Gujarat Area, recently visited the Artillery Centre in Nashik. During his visit, he evaluated various advancements in infrastructure and training aimed at enhancing operational readiness and the welfare of troops.
As part of his visit, Lt Gen Chadha inaugurated a new Rehabilitation & Fitness Centre dedicated to Agniveer trainees. This facility is designed to address and prevent long-term sports-related injuries, responding to an Army health report indicating recovery challenges affecting approximately 15% of new recruits. The centre is anticipated to significantly boost physical resilience and maintain combat fitness levels.

The General also reviewed advanced simulator-based training systems that have modernized artillery instruction. A report from the Journal of Defense Studies suggests these simulators have improved combat efficiency by 30% among trained personnel. Lt Gen Chadha interacted with instructors present at the site and commended their efforts in integrating technology with traditional training methodologies.

This visit aligns with the Indian Army’s larger initiative under Southern Command to embrace innovation and sustainable practices. This initiative parallels national trends, such as the recent launch of India’s first geothermal net-zero military building in Jhansi, emphasizing a balance between ecological considerations and efficiency.

Military officials in Nashik have expressed their approval of these upgrades, emphasizing that they will enhance the Artillery Centre’s reputation as one of Asia’s leading training facilities. Located near the Deolali Cantonment Board and the Combat Army Aviation Training School, the Centre's strategic position adds significant value to these ongoing developments.
