Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney Inaugurates AASHRAY Guest Facility for JCOs at MCEME Secunderabad

Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad, inaugurated AASHRAY, a dedicated accommodation facility for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), on August 28, 2026, adding a new welfare-oriented space for personnel visiting the station with their families.

The facility, located at the JCOs Club on the MCEME campus, offers 16 newly renovated and fully furnished guest rooms. It has been created as a practical welfare measure to provide JCOs and their families with comfortable, convenient and dignified accommodation during temporary stays and visits.

Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, MCEME and Colonel Commandant, Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), inaugurated the accommodation facility.

AASHRAY has been developed to give JCOs and their families a welcoming place to stay when they are away from their regular postings. The idea behind the facility is to make short visits to MCEME easier and more comfortable, whether the stay is linked to official duties, training or personal requirements.

The dedicated guest rooms are also expected to address a practical need for accompanying family members, ensuring that those visiting the station have suitable accommodation available to them. In that sense, the facility is intended to support not only serving JCOs but also the family responsibilities that often accompany military service.

The initiative reflects the importance placed on the welfare of JCOs and their families within the Armed Forces. By offering quality accommodation, AASHRAY is meant to strengthen the sense of care, belonging and institutional support extended to personnel and their dependants.

It also fits into MCEME’s broader focus on personnel welfare alongside its core responsibilities of training, professional development and capability enhancement for the Corps of EME. The institution has presented the accommodation facility as part of its continuing efforts to look after the needs of those serving under its umbrella.

The new facility is expected to improve the overall experience of JCOs visiting the station by addressing an important welfare requirement during temporary stays. With its renovated and furnished rooms, AASHRAY is intended to function as a home away from home for JCOs and their families while they are at MCEME.

The inauguration of AASHRAY underlines MCEME’s emphasis on welfare measures that place personnel and their families at the centre of institutional support, while continuing to serve the college’s wider training and professional development role for the Corps of EME.
