Lt Gen Manoj Katiyar Commends 14 Gorkha Training Centre Band for Republic Day 2026 Parade Triumph

New Delhi, January 30, 2026 – Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, who holds the titles of PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, and serves as the Army Commander of the Western Command, has congratulated the 14 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC) Pipes & Drums Band for their remarkable performance at the 2026 Republic Day Parade. The band was named the Best Pipes Band at the event, showcasing exceptional musical ability and discipline.

The accolade highlights the band's significant contribution to the parade, which included precise marching and engaging musical performances that captivated the audience. Colonel Abhishek Bhakat, Deputy Commandant, along with the Officiating Centre Subedar Major and the Band Junior Commissioned Officer, accepted the trophy from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

This award is part of a series of commendations from the Indian Army leadership, including COAS General Upendra Dwivedi, who recognized various contingents and bands for their outstanding performances during the Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat Ceremony. The 14 GTC's achievement in securing the Best Pipe Band title highlights the intense training and commitment of its members, with the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre finishing as runners-up.
