Lt Gen Manjinder Singh Assesses Drone School Advancements at Lalgarh Jattan Military Station
Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, who leads the South Western Command, visited the Lalgarh Jattan Military Station on August 8 to evaluate its operational readiness and review the progress of the newly established Drone Training School. This visit underscores the Army's increasing emphasis on incorporating advanced unmanned aerial systems into its operational strategies.
During his visit, Lt Gen Singh received a briefing on the modern facilities at the school, which are intended to train personnel in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). He praised the professionalism of both the instructors and trainees, emphasizing the importance of innovative training techniques and ongoing vigilance to maintain superiority in modern military engagements.
The Army Commander pointed out that improved drone surveillance has already led to a notable reduction in casualties along the India-Pakistan border, with research showing a 15% decrease. He also held discussions with senior officers, an event marked by the display of command flags and signs of inter-unit cooperation, indicating a more unified approach to regional security issues.
The Drone Training School collaborates with specialized institutions such as the Indian Institute of Drones and benefits from the expertise of professionals like former Navy UAV pilots and retired Major General RC Padhi, who boasts over 36 years of service.
According to Army officials, the facility is anticipated to significantly enhance reconnaissance, surveillance, and precision-strike capabilities. This investment aligns with global military trends where drone technology is transforming the battlefield landscape.
