Lt Gen Girish Kalia Assesses Manipur Security and Advances in Drone Technology

Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, the General Officer Commanding of the Spear Corps, conducted a visit to forward positions and key military installations throughout Manipur. The visit aimed to evaluate the current security conditions, assess operational readiness, and review ongoing efforts to enhance military capabilities.

During his visit, Lt Gen Kalia conducted an aerial survey of regions recently impacted by conflicts and assessed the broader security environment. He visited forward Army posts at Kangvai, Sendra, Litan, and YKPI, where he engaged with commanders and troops, commending their professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering dedication to upholding peace and stability.

In the company of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) and other senior officers, Lt Gen Kalia also toured the Somsai and Kakching Garrisons. His focus was on reviewing counter-insurgency operations, fostering coordination among security agencies, and evaluating measures to enhance operational effectiveness in sensitive areas.

A significant aspect of the visit was his engagement with troops at the Red Shield Drone Lab in Leimakhong Military Station and the Drone Training Laboratory in Kakching. The Corps Commander observed indigenous developments in drone assembly, repair, and specialized training in drone warfare, all designed to boost surveillance and operational capabilities in difficult terrains.

Lt Gen Kalia praised the troops for their technical skills, innovative strategies, and forward-thinking approach in adopting modern warfare technologies. His visit underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to integrating advanced capabilities with ground operations to maintain security and operational supremacy in the region.
