Lt Gen Dinesh Singh Rana Unveils 'Nanda Hall' Honoring Admiral SM Nanda’s 1971 Naval Achievements

In a ceremony honoring one of India's most esteemed naval figures, Lt Gen Dinesh Singh Rana, who holds the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command, officially opened 'Nanda Hall.' This new facility pays homage to Admiral SM Nanda, the mastermind behind the audacious naval assaults on Karachi during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

Admiral Nanda is affectionately known as the "Father of the Indian Navy’s modern offensive doctrine." He orchestrated Operation Trident and Operation Python, two pivotal assaults that significantly weakened Pakistan’s naval strength and favored India in the conflict. These operations are celebrated as some of the most significant achievements in the history of India's naval forces.

Nanda Hall is a testament to Admiral Nanda's strategic acumen and leadership, inspiring current and future generations of naval personnel. The facility is dedicated to preserving his legacy while serving as an educational and motivational venue for young sailors and officers.

The hall features an exhibit of Indian Navy history, including intricate models of ships and aircraft that illustrate the service's journey from historic victories to its present-day role in securing India's maritime interests.

This development showcases the Navy's advancement as a modern maritime force, highlighting its ongoing dedication to protecting the nation's maritime boundaries.
