Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, recently visited the Rashtriya Military School (RMS) in Ajmer. His visit underscored the Army's dedication to developing future leaders through comprehensive military education.

Founded in 1952 as King George’s Royal Indian Military School, RMS Ajmer has become a leading institution in cultivating military leaders. During Lt Gen Seth's visit, he assessed the school’s academic, training, and administrative facilities. He also honored cadets who have excelled in academics, sports, and cultural activities. Praising the faculty for their role in fostering discipline and leadership, he encouraged the students to adopt perseverance, critical thinking, and self-discipline in their preparation to serve the nation.

One of the notable aspects of his visit was a briefing on forthcoming infrastructural enhancements, such as the addition of a modern academic block. This reflects the Army’s broader strategic initiative to incorporate technology into military education. Lt Gen Seth assured that Southern Command is already taking proactive steps to address the school’s future needs. The visit highlights the Army's commitment to modernizing military education while preserving time-honored traditions, ensuring that cadets are prepared with the necessary values and skills to lead in a changing security landscape.

Rashtriya Military School at Ajmer was started in 1932 as King George’s Royal Indian Military School. My late father was an alumnus of this school in pre World War II period.
