Lt Gen DG Misra Inspires Border Village Youth at National Integration Tour in Bareilly
The Indian Army on Tuesday continued its outreach to young people from remote border areas as Lt Gen DG Misra, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Uttar Bharat Area, met participants of a National Integration Tour at Bareilly and urged them to turn their exposure into confidence and ambition.
The interaction came as part of an Army-led effort to connect students from border villages with people, places and institutions beyond their immediate surroundings. The National Integration Tour, organised by the Panchshul Gunners, was designed to expose young minds from remote regions to different parts of the country and help them build greater awareness, self-belief and aspirations for the future.
During the session at Bareilly, Lt Gen Misra spoke with the participants about their experiences on the tour and encouraged them to use what they had seen and learned as motivation for their personal goals. He told the youngsters to meet difficulties with confidence and determination, stressing the need to turn experience into confidence, challenges into strength and dreams into action.
For students growing up in remote and mountainous border regions, such tours can offer a rare chance to see life beyond the terrain they know best. Visits to important cities, institutions and other places of national significance can introduce them to educational pathways, career options and wider possibilities that may otherwise remain outside their horizon.
The initiative also gives the participants the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds and gain a fuller sense of the country’s diversity and scale. In that way, the tours are intended not only to broaden awareness but also to strengthen national integration and encourage young people to think more ambitiously about education and future careers.
The Bareilly interaction also reflected the Indian Army’s broader engagement with communities in border and remote areas. Beyond its operational role, Army formations regularly conduct outreach programmes aimed at supporting students and building closer ties with local communities.
Organised by the Panchshul Gunners, the National Integration Tour fits into that wider approach by giving young participants the chance to travel, learn and return home with a broader outlook and greater confidence. The exercise is meant to help them see that their place of origin does not have to define the limits of their ambitions.
From the mountains of Kumaon to opportunities across the country, the message to the participants was clear: geographical isolation need not shape the scale of a young person’s dreams. They were encouraged to aim higher, face challenges boldly and work steadily towards turning aspiration into reality.
