Lt Gen Devendra Sharma Reviews Training Excellence at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun
On February 3, 2026, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), paid a visit to the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
During his visit, the Army Commander assessed the training facilities and expressed his admiration for the Academy's modern training infrastructure and stringent training standards. These facilities are specifically designed to equip Officer Cadets for the dynamic challenges associated with modern warfare. He praised the faculty and staff for successfully maintaining a training environment that integrates traditional values with contemporary military education.

While engaging with the faculty and Officer Cadets, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma highlighted the significance of upholding the highest standards of honor, professionalism, and selfless service. He encouraged the future leaders of the Indian Army to remain unwavering in their commitment to values-based leadership, while also embracing innovation and adaptability in the context of modern combat scenarios.

During the event, the Veteran Achiever Award was presented to Subedar (Honorary Captain) Raghubir Singh Bhandari (Retd) of the 15 Garhwal Rifles in recognition of his exceptional contributions following his retirement. His ongoing efforts to address pension, reimbursement, and ECHS-related issues for over 300 ex-servicemen and widows were celebrated as a commendable example of service extending beyond military duty.
The visit underscored ARTRAC’s dedication to achieving excellence in officer training, alongside the Indian Army’s enduring emphasis on ethical leadership, professional expertise, and a strong connection with veterans and their welfare.
