Lt Gen Devendra Sharma Launches Indian Army's First Green and Smart Campus at CAATS, Nashik

On June 2, 2026, Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command, paid a visit to the Combat Army Aviation Training School. During his visit, he inaugurated key initiatives focused on sustainability, quality standards, and institutional excellence.

One of the significant developments launched during his visit was the Green & Smart Campus Initiative, which positions CAATS as the first Category ‘A’ establishment within the Indian Army to implement this model. This initiative aims to enhance sustainability, resource efficiency, and create a modern, technology-driven learning environment.

Furthermore, Lt Gen Sharma inaugurated the ISO Certification Programme for the institution, signifying CAATS' dedication to quality management and continuous improvement, adhering to globally recognized standards in both training and administration.

During the visit, he presented GOC-in-C Commendation Cards to personnel serving in recognition of their professionalism, dedication, and exemplary service. Veterans were also honoured for their distinguished contributions to the nation and their lasting ties with the Army Aviation community.

Interacting with officers, instructors, and trainees, Lt Gen Sharma expressed his appreciation for the Commandant and all ranks of CAATS for their efforts in promoting innovation, institutional excellence, and developing future-ready training methodologies.

He emphasized the necessity for military training facilities to evolve in response to advancing technologies and modern warfare demands, especially in fields like aviation, unmanned systems, and multi-domain operations.

The Army Commander lauded CAATS for establishing a progressive training environment with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational relevance, solidifying its status as a leading centre for Army Aviation training.

The visit reinforced ARTRAC’s commitment to transforming military education and training institutions into modern centres of excellence, capable of preparing soldiers and officers to face future battlefield challenges.
