Lt Anni Nehra Distinguished as Top Graduate of Indian Army Commando Course
The esteemed Commando Course of the Indian Army concluded on June 19, 2026, at the Junior Leaders Wing (JLW) in Belagavi. This event marked the end of one of the Army's most rigorous combat training programs.
Participants included Indian Army personnel and 38 students from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs) such as Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives. They successfully navigated through the mentally and physically demanding training designed to enhance combat skills, endurance, leadership, and resilience.

Major General Rakesh Manocha, Commander at the Junior Leaders Wing, presided over the closing ceremony. He addressed the graduating students, congratulating them on meeting the rigorous standards of this elite course.
Recognized as one of the toughest military training programs, the Commando Course subjects participants to intensive physical conditioning, tactical exercises, survival training, obstacle courses, and leadership challenges under demanding conditions.

At the ceremony, outstanding performers were honored for their exceptional achievements. Lieutenant Anni Nehra of the Sikh Light Infantry and Naik Patil Rakesh Pandurang of the Maratha Light Infantry were declared the Best Students of the course.
Among the international participants, Lieutenant Pema Singye Penden of the Royal Bhutan Army and Lance Corporal Abisek BK of the Nepal Army were awarded trophies as the Best Foreign Students, reflecting their outstanding performance during the training.
The involvement of military personnel from friendly foreign countries underscores the growing defense cooperation and military engagement between India and its partner nations. These courses provide a crucial platform for professional exchange, interoperability, and strengthening strategic relationships.
Officials highlighted that the successful completion of the course by all participants demonstrated their determination, discipline, and commitment to excellence in military service.
The event reinforced the Junior Leaders Wing's status as a leading military training institution, committed to producing skilled leaders capable of operating effectively in challenging operational environments and future battlefields.
