Lieutenant Parul Singh Secures Second Place in Challenging High-Altitude Spiti Marathon

The Indian Naval Academy has lauded Lieutenant Parul Singh for her impressive accomplishment in securing the second position in the Surya Spiti Half Marathon, a challenging 21.09 km race held at altitudes between 3,201 and 3,684 meters. This event took place from August 22 to 24 during the second edition of the Surya Spirit Challenge, set against the striking yet harsh landscape of Kunzum La and Sumdo in Himachal Pradesh.

The marathon, which began at 3,201 meters and ascended to 3,684 meters, tested the endurance of its participants, particularly given that the Indian Naval Academy is situated at only 286 meters above sea level. Lt Parul’s success is a testament to her perseverance, rigorous training, and determination to exceed her limits.

This achievement is a source of immense pride for her unit and family, who praised her steadfast dedication and regarded this recognition as an inspiring milestone for others to emulate.

The Surya Spirit Challenge represented more than just a race; it was a celebration of endurance, unity, and the human spirit in the face of extreme conditions. The event’s felicitation ceremony was overseen by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C Surya Command, who applauded the bravery and determination displayed by all participants.

Lt Parul Singh’s exceptional performance is yet another inspiring example of resilience and excellence within the armed forces.
