In a formal military ceremony symbolizing honor and continuity, Lieutenant General Arvind Chauhan, YSM, SM, has taken over the leadership of the prestigious Sudarshan Chakra Corps of the Indian Army from Lieutenant General Prit Pal Singh, AVSM. The event took place today in Bhopal.
The change of command ceremony at the Corps Headquarters included the traditional passing of the baton, which signifies the smooth transition of authority. After the ceremony, Lt Gen Chauhan paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Corps War Memorial, underscoring the unit's steadfast dedication to honoring its heroes.

The outgoing commander, Lt Gen Prit Pal Singh, leaves a legacy of excellence, having led an armored regiment and a frontline infantry division. His leadership has been praised for operational foresight and effectiveness, with commendation from the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
Lt Gen Chauhan, the new Corps Commander, is recognized for his sharp operational skills and has called on all ranks to maintain a focus on mission readiness and efficiency. His appointment is viewed as part of a larger strategic realignment within Army leadership as India strengthens its integrated theatre commands.

The Sudarshan Chakra Corps, originally established in 1917 for World War I operations in the Middle East and re-established in 1990, continues to serve as the Southern Command’s only strike corps. The new leadership is expected to bolster its role as a key offensive unit capable of rapidly adapting to modern battlefield challenges.
