Indian Army's Southern Command Focuses on Technological Advancements During Laungewala Brigade Review
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, paid a visit to the Laungewala Brigade earlier this week, emphasizing the Indian Army's commitment to modernization and technological advancement. The visit focused on assessing operational readiness, evaluating advancements in technology-driven infrastructure, and examining measures for troop welfare.
During the visit, Lt Gen Seth was informed about the recent developments, including the creation of a Drone Training Node within the brigade. This facility signifies the Indian Army's growing dependence on drone technology, reflecting a global trend where unmanned aerial systems have become crucial in contemporary warfare.
The Army Commander also evaluated innovations aimed at enhancing real-time combat training and boosting battlefield response times. He commended the brigade's ongoing efforts to integrate next-generation systems into their training programs.
Known for its significant role in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, where Indian forces successfully repelled a significantly larger Pakistani army, the Laungewala Brigade is strengthening its legacy through digital upgrades and cutting-edge systems, bridging past accomplishments with future capabilities.
Lt Gen Seth, who assumed the role of Southern Army Commander on July 1, 2024, stressed the necessity of upholding operational excellence and adapting to emerging threats. With experience in instructional roles at the National Defence Academy and the School of Armoured Warfare, his leadership is in line with India’s Decade of Transformation strategy (2023–2032), which aims to develop a digitally empowered and future-ready armed force.
