The officer died during a security operation in the Manjakote forest region of Rajouri, an area currently under intensive search operations as security forces work to locate suspected terrorists hiding in the dense forested terrain.
The White Knight Corps expressed deep sorrow over Lieutenant Goswami’s untimely death, honoring his bravery, dedication to duty, and selfless service to the nation.
In a tribute, the Corps stated, “White Knight Corps and all ranks express profound grief on the untimely demise of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, who made the Supreme Sacrifice while undertaking operational duties in an area marked by rugged terrain, steep cliffs and adverse weather conditions.”

The Army expressed its solidarity with the bereaved family, offering prayers for the departed soul's eternal peace.
The incident took place in the Dorimaal area of the Manjakote forests, where Operation Sheruwali is ongoing. This region, characterized by dense forests, rocky paths, steep slopes, and deep gorges, poses significant challenges for troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations.
Lieutenant Goswami reportedly slipped and fell into a deep gorge while executing his duties. Despite rescue efforts and subsequent medical evacuation, he succumbed to his injuries.
This incident underscores the serious risks soldiers face, not only from adversaries but also from the difficult and unforgiving terrain where such operations are conducted.
Operation Sheruwali, which has been active in the Manjakote sector, aims to locate and neutralize suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forested areas of Dorimaal and Gambhir Mughalan.
The coordinated efforts involve the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security agencies. Troops are employing drones, sniffer dogs, and other surveillance tools to aid their operations in the challenging environment.
The region remains under a tight security cordon as forces continue their combing operations. The thick forests of Rajouri and Poonch often present significant obstacles to security forces due to their natural cover and difficult terrain.
Lieutenant Goswami's ultimate sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers faced by officers and soldiers deployed in such operational areas, where they endure extreme physical and tactical pressures even during routine duties.
His passing has deeply affected the Army community, but his bravery and commitment will continue to inspire his fellow soldiers. The White Knight Corps assured that they stand firmly with the officer’s family during this difficult time.
Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami’s exemplary service and dedication to the nation will be remembered with profound respect.
