ITBP Bus Accident: Empty Vehicle Plunges into River Sindh in Ganderbal, J&K

A bus designated for transporting Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel fell into the River Sindh near the Kullan bridge in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir early this morning. The incident occurred at Resin Kullan when the vehicle reportedly lost control on a curve, leading it off the road and into the river.
The Ganderbal Police reported that the bus was unoccupied at the time of the accident. The driver, who suffered minor injuries, has been taken to a nearby medical facility and is currently in stable condition.
In response to the accident, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams from Ganderbal and Sub Component Gund initiated a joint search and rescue operation. Rescue teams are actively working to retrieve equipment believed to be in the bus, including weapons allocated to the ITBP units.
Authorities have verified that some weapons went missing following the crash. To date, three weapons have been retrieved from the river. The search for the remaining items is ongoing, with the area being meticulously examined to ensure no personnel or critical assets are unaccounted for.
The rescue operation is challenged by difficult terrain and strong river currents, but the teams remain vigilant. Further updates are anticipated as the recovery efforts proceed.
