Israeli Jets Strike Key Islamic Revolutionary Guard and Security Sites in Tehran

Israeli Air Force jets have executed precision strikes on significant military command centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Internal Security Forces located in Tehran, as confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The strikes, coordinated with intelligence from the IDF’s Intelligence Directorate, signify a substantial escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
The assaults targeted key sites, including the headquarters of the Basij, a formidable paramilitary division of the IRGC known for its enforcement of Islamic law and internal monitoring, as well as the Alborz Corps, which ensures regime stability across the Tehran District. The Intelligence and General Security Police, crucial components of Iran’s internal security, were also hit during the operation.
According to the IDF, these command centers are crucial for the Iranian regime to sustain its military and internal dominance. The airstrikes have significantly impacted Tehran's ability to exert power both domestically and in the region, stated the Israeli military.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation after the strikes, asserting that Israel is approaching its strategic objectives concerning Iran. He highlighted that the operation aims to neutralize two existential threats: Iran’s nuclear weapons program and its expanding collection of ballistic missiles.
Netanyahu mentioned, “We are very, very close to completing them,” referring to the operation's goals. He further stated that Israel had caused “very serious damage” to Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility and claimed over half of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers had been destroyed in the last ten days.
The Israeli offensive comes on the heels of the United States' Operation Midnight Hammer, which included airstrikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities. Netanyahu said he had communicated Israel’s concerns to U.S. President Donald Trump, who, he claimed, recognized the necessity of Israel’s actions.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that Iran’s military and financial backing of Hamas and Hezbollah is central to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, suggesting that weakening Tehran would aid Israel’s efforts against Hamas. He maintained that the war in Gaza could end immediately if Hamas surrendered and released all remaining hostages.
The situation remains tense, with the potential for broader regional escalation as Iran considers its response. Israel's actions represent one of the most direct assaults on Iranian soil targeting military infrastructure, adding strain to the already delicate regional dynamics.
