IPS officer Preeti Yadav appointed first woman DCP of Noida Zone-1 in Gautam Buddh Nagar
Noida, October 30, 2026: IPS officer Preeti Yadav, a 2019-batch officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Noida Zone-1 in the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate, becoming the first woman to hold the post.
The appointment was made by Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh as part of an administrative reshuffle intended to strengthen policing in the district. Yadav takes over from 2018-batch IPS officer Saad Mian Khan, who has been transferred to the Agra Commissionerate after serving in Gautam Buddh Nagar for more than four years.
Born on April 10, 1996, in Rewari, Haryana, Yadav comes from a family closely associated with policing. Her father, Mukesh Yadav, began his career as a constable in the Chandigarh Police and later rose through the ranks. She has said, through her career path, that watching him serve in uniform inspired her to pursue public service and aim for the police force.
Yadav’s academic record has also been a defining part of her journey. She scored 96.2 per cent in her Class 12 humanities examination and later pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Geography, where she emerged as a university topper and received a gold medal for her performance.
After completing her graduation, she discontinued her postgraduate studies to focus fully on preparation for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination. Her efforts paid off when she cleared the examination in her first attempt at the age of 22, securing All India Rank 466. She was selected for the Indian Police Service and formally joined on August 26, 2019.
Following training, Yadav began her field posting as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She later served in a range of policing roles before joining the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, where she handled responsibilities linked to women’s safety, cybercrime and public security.
Her service has also been recognised on more than one occasion. She received the Director General’s Commendation Disc (Silver) on Republic Day in 2023. In 2025, Noida Lok Manch honoured her with the Mahila Shree Samman for her contribution to public service.
Officials and those familiar with her work describe Yadav as a composed and approachable officer. Her experience in public engagement, women’s safety and cybercrime is expected to be relevant in Noida Zone-1, an important urban policing jurisdiction within the commissionerate.
The zone carries significant responsibilities, including maintaining law and order, preventing crime, ensuring public safety and responding to citizens’ grievances. Her appointment places her at the centre of policing in one of the district’s key urban areas.
Outside work, Yadav is known to take interest in painting, art and travelling. Her rise from a family influenced by police service to a senior field role in one of Uttar Pradesh’s most important urban policing zones has drawn attention for its symbolic value as well as its administrative significance.
With her appointment, Preeti Yadav becomes the first woman DCP of Noida Zone-1, adding a new chapter to the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate’s history.
