INS Shivaji Graduates 409 Indian and Foreign Trainees from Marine Engineering Courses
INS Shivaji has concluded Agniveer Marine Engineering (ME) Course 60.958 and the Basic ME ‘Q’ Course for Friendly Foreign Navies, with 409 trainees completing specialised training at the Indian Navy’s premier Marine Engineering training establishment.
The graduates comprised 374 Indian Navy personnel, 31 members of the Indian Coast Guard, two personnel from the Sri Lankan Navy and two from the Maldives. Commodore S Parthiban, Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji, reviewed the Course Completion Parade and felicitated trainees recognised for their performance during training.
The courses prepare trainees to operate and maintain critical engineering systems aboard naval vessels. Alongside technical knowledge and practical skills, the programme focuses on professional competence, discipline, teamwork, leadership and operational readiness for maritime operations.

The Sri Lankan and Maldivian trainees’ participation also reflects India’s focus on maritime cooperation and capacity building with friendly countries in the Indian Ocean Region. Training alongside personnel from other maritime forces can help build professional relationships and improve interoperability.

The completion of the courses adds 409 trained personnel to the pool of marine engineering professionals prepared to support naval operations. INS Shivaji’s training combines technical instruction with character development and professional discipline, with the aim of preparing personnel to serve competently in demanding maritime environments.
