INS Mysore Arrives in Malaysia for 4th Samudra Laksamana Naval Exercise
Indian Navy warship INS Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, on September 9, 2026, to take part in the fourth edition of the bilateral maritime exercise Samudra Laksamana with the Royal Malaysian Navy.
The ship’s deployment is part of an ongoing Indian Navy operational deployment and is intended to deepen maritime cooperation and professional interaction between the two navies. The visit comes as India and Malaysia continue to broaden defence engagement in the maritime domain.
Arrival at Lumut
INS Mysore and its crew were received on arrival by personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy, along with officials from the High Commission of India in Malaysia. The reception set the stage for the latest round of the exercise, which will involve both harbour-based and sea-based engagements.
Exercise Samudra Laksamana is designed to bring together Indian Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy personnel for a range of professional activities. These include cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting engagements, all of which are meant to help the two sides share experience, improve interoperability and build greater mutual understanding.
A Growing Maritime Partnership
The fourth edition of the exercise comes against the backdrop of steadily expanding defence and maritime cooperation between India and Malaysia. The deployment follows recent bilateral engagement, including the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting held on July 1, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the visit reflects the strong and enduring maritime partnership between the two countries and highlights the widening scope of cooperation between the Indian Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy.
