Indian Military Academy Passing Out Parade: Celebrating New Army Leaders on 13 December 2025
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun was steeped in tradition and pride during the Passing Out Parade (POP) on 13 December 2025, marking the commissioning of new leaders into the Indian Army. The historic Chetwode Drill Square was alive with the precision and discipline of the young Officer Cadets, who marched with determination as they prepared to serve their country.
COAS Attends Pipping Ceremony at IMA
General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), participated in the Pipping Ceremony that followed the parade. In a moment filled with both solemnity and inspiration, he personally pinned stars on the shoulders of the newly commissioned officers, including foreign cadets from Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, as well as an officer from the Assam Rifles. The COAS extended his congratulations to the officers and their proud families, acknowledging the dedicated effort and sacrifices that led to this momentous day.

Donning the Stars: A New Beginning
With the donning of their stars, the young officers officially embarked on their military careers within the Indian Army. This ceremony not only marked the end of their rigorous training but also the beginning of their lifelong commitment to the nation and the soldiers they will command. The COAS implored them to uphold the Indian Army’s highest traditions and values, emphasizing that true leadership is characterized by integrity, bravery, and empathy.

General Upendra Dwivedi conducted a review of the Passing Out Parade for the 157th Regular Course, 46th Technical Entry Scheme (TES), 140th Technical Graduate Course (TGC), 55th Special Commissioned Officers (SCO) Course, and TA OEE 2023 Course.

A total of 525 Officer Cadets, including 34 from Friendly Foreign Countries, completed their training at the Indian Military Academy. The parade showcased immaculate drills, flawless coordination, and an outstanding turnout, highlighting the academy’s stringent training standards and rich traditions.
Message to the Young Officers
In his message to the newly commissioned officers and their families, the COAS emphasized the unique honor of serving in the Armed Forces. He urged the officers to continuously seek excellence, remain resilient in the face of adversity, and commit themselves to the service of the nation with unwavering dedication.
