Indian Army's Northern Command Assesses Counter-Terrorism Strategies in South Kashmir

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, undertook a comprehensive assessment of counter-terrorism operations in South Kashmir on Friday.

This visit followed Operation Guddar, during which security forces successfully eliminated two key terrorists in the dense Guddar forest of Kulgam. During his visit, Lt Gen Sharma commended personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police for their outstanding contributions to the operation. The operation underscored the effectiveness of the joint efforts by the Army, JKP, and the Central Reserve Police Force.

A significant aspect of the review involved showcasing innovations and AI-driven technologies developed by the troops, highlighting the Army's increasing use of modern tools in conflict areas. According to defense studies, these innovations have enhanced operational efficiency by nearly 20%.

Lt Gen Sharma lauded the professionalism and creativity of the troops, encouraging them to stay steadfast in the face of evolving challenges in the region. His visit occurs amidst rising security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in areas prone to infiltration and militant activities.

The Northern Command chief reaffirmed the Army's dedication to maintaining stability along India's borders with Pakistan and China, emphasizing the strategic significance of South Kashmir within the broader security framework.
