Indian Army's Gajraj Corps Launches Historic Mount Kangto Expedition
An 18-member team from the Indian Army has embarked on an ambitious mission to conquer Mount Kangto, one of the highest and most challenging peaks in Arunachal Pradesh, standing at 7,042 meters (23,103 feet). The expedition, driven by the motto "Josh in the hearts, Adventure at the Peak!", was initiated on November 3, 2025, by Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Gajraj Corps, from a forward base.
Rekindling the Spirit of Himalayan Exploration
Mount Kangto, a prominent feature of the Eastern Himalayas, is known for its formidable natural challenges and untouched beauty. The peak was last ascended in 1930, making this mission a significant attempt to scale it again after almost a century.

The Gajraj Corps team, comprising 18 courageous members, is set to face the harsh conditions of icy ridges, steep glaciers, and rugged terrains. Amidst extreme cold and thin air at high altitudes, their mission stands as a testament to the grit, discipline, teamwork, and unyielding spirit characteristic of the Indian Army. This expedition also seeks to promote adventure, endurance, and leadership among its troops while highlighting India's strategic presence in this crucial region.

During the flag-off ceremony, Lt Gen Gambhir Singh commended the team for their bravery and resolve, noting that such missions reflect the adventurous spirit and operational readiness of the Indian Army. He extended his best wishes for their endeavor to plant the Tricolour on one of the most daunting Himalayan peaks.
