The Indian Army has revealed significant updates to its Services Selection Board (SSB) process, which will include the introduction of a computer-based Stage-1 screening test by the end of 2026. This initiative is part of efforts to address issues of high screening-out rates and overcrowding.

Beginning in 2027, these entries will be channeled through a new Combined Defence Services Technical Examination (CDSTE) managed by UPSC, thereby reducing the SSB call-up ratio. |
