Indian Army Subedar Surjeet Singh Killed in Samba Camp Incident; Investigation Underway
A Junior Commissioned Officer of the Indian Army, identified as Subedar Surjeet Singh, was fatally wounded in a shooting incident at a military camp in the Samba district on Tuesday, officials reported.
The defence spokesperson confirmed that Subedar Singh sustained a gunshot injury and later died from his wounds. The tragic event took place while he was fulfilling his operational duties in the Jammu region.
In a tribute, the Rising Star Corps honored the fallen soldier, acknowledging his ultimate sacrifice. "Rising Star Corps pays solemn tribute to braveheart Subedar Surjeet Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice while on operational duty in Jammu. The Indian Army stands firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and assures unwavering support," the Corps conveyed in a message on X.
Defence officials have clarified that the possibility of terrorism has been ruled out. "The incident is under investigation and further details will be shared as facts are established," stated the spokesperson, as reported by PTI.
The incident has left the unit in mourning, with senior officers and fellow soldiers expressing their respect for Subedar Singh, remembering him for his steadfast dedication, professionalism, and service to the country.
The Indian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the incident and ensuring complete support for the family of the deceased, honoring the soldier's courage and service to the nation.
