Indian Army Jawan Found Dead in Delhi Hotel, Suicide Note Recovered

New Delhi: A 26-year-old Indian Army jawan was found dead in a hotel room in southwest Delhi’s Satya Niketan area on Saturday, August 22, 2026, after an apparent suicide, according to police. Officers said they recovered a suicide note from the room, but it did not contain any allegations against any individual.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Sai Tejja Vallepu, also referred to in some reports as Anil Sai Teja Vallepu. He was from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, with one report specifying Macherla as his native place. Vallepu was serving in the Indian Army and was posted at Hisar Cantonment in Haryana.

Police said the matter came to light after a PCR call was received at the South Campus police station at around 12:19 pm to 12:20 pm on Saturday. The caller reported that a person had allegedly died by suicide by hanging at Hotel Blue Moon Inn in Satya Niketan. When officers reached the location, they found the man hanging from the ceiling fan inside the room.

The Crime Team was called to the hotel and examined the room as part of the investigation. During the inspection, police recovered a suicide note. According to officials, the note did not mention or accuse any person.

Preliminary inquiry suggests that Vallepu had checked into the hotel on August 19, 2026, and had been staying there alone. One report said he checked in at around 3:35 pm that day. He remained at the hotel until his body was discovered three days later.

The body was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for the necessary legal and medical procedures, including a post-mortem examination. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the death and trying to establish the sequence of events that led to the incident.

Police said proceedings are being conducted under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which covers police inquiry and reporting in cases of suicide. No further details have been made public about the contents of the note, Vallepu’s specific unit, his rank beyond being identified as a jawan, or the purpose of his stay in Delhi.

There has been no immediate official statement from the Indian Army in the reports available so far. Police continue to investigate the case, and further details are expected after the post-mortem and other inquiry steps are completed.
