Indian Army Hosts Blood Donation Camp in Shimla, Encourages Voluntary Civic Service
A blood donation drive was held by the Army Training Command on March 27, 2026, at the Military Hospital (MH) in Shimla. The event was organized under the auspices of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) in conjunction with the Indira Gandhi Medical College.
Mrs. Rani Sharma, the Regional President of AWWA, inaugurated the camp. The initiative saw a significant turnout, with numerous volunteers stepping forward to donate blood in support of the cause.

The camp was spearheaded by Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, who is the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC, alongside the AWWA Regional President. During the event, an educational session was held to emphasize the critical role of voluntary blood donation and its life-saving benefits.

Lt Gen Devendra Sharma praised the efforts of MH Shimla and expressed his gratitude towards the volunteers for their altruistic contributions. He stressed the importance of such drives in enhancing community service and fostering a sense of humanitarian duty within the military ranks.

This blood donation initiative underscores the Indian Army’s ongoing dedication to social responsibility and community welfare, complementing its primary operational roles.
