Indian Army Demonstrates Technological Advancements During GOC Sudarshan Chakra Corps Visit in Secunderabad

The Indian Army's Bison Division recently welcomed Lt Gen Prit Pal Singh, AVSM, General Officer Commanding of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, at the Secunderabad Military Station, showcasing its operational readiness and technological advancements. The visit was primarily aimed at reviewing training efforts and enhancements in capability as part of the Army's modernization efforts.
A major aspect of the visit included a demonstration of cutting-edge military technologies, such as drones and homegrown counter-drone systems. This reflects the Army's increasing emphasis on self-sufficiency and preparedness. These advancements are part of 138 emergency procurement schemes valued at Rs 16,000 crore, initiated following the 2016 Uri attack, with the goal of strengthening combat capabilities along the Line of Control and Line of Actual Control.
Lt Gen Singh praised the troops for their professionalism and dedication, acknowledging the unit's efforts to incorporate innovation and new technologies. He highlighted the importance of maintaining high training and readiness standards in a changing security landscape.
The Sudarshan Chakra Corps, which was originally formed in 1917 during World War I for operations in the Middle East, has evolved into a leading strike corps under the Southern Command. This evolution reflects the Indian Army's strategic shift towards modern warfare and multi-domain operational readiness.
A significant element of the visit was a presentation on the Vehicle Mounted Counter Swarm Drone System, developed under the Army's Make-II initiative by Apollo Micro Systems. Contracted in July 2024, the system is set to be operational by March 2026 and aims to effectively counter drone swarm threats.
The event also included tactical drills, equipment displays, and ceremonial honors, underscoring the Army's integrated approach to enhancing combat capability and promoting tri-service synergy. The visit reinforced the Army's dedication to indigenization and readiness in the face of complex regional challenges.
