Lt Gen VMB Krishnan Visits Tezpur and Sukna, Meets Gajraj and Trishakti Corps Troops

Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, Army Commander of the Eastern Command, visited Tezpur and Sukna Military Stations and met officers and troops of Gajraj Corps and Trishakti Corps, two formations that play key roles in the Indian Army’s eastern theatre.

The interaction gave the Eastern Command chief an opportunity to speak directly with personnel serving in operationally demanding areas and to review their professional environment and responsibilities. During the visit, he interacted with officers and soldiers and took stock of the conditions in which these formations function.

Gajraj Corps, headquartered at Tezpur, is an important part of the security architecture in the northeastern region. Trishakti Corps, based at Sukna, carries critical operational responsibilities in the northern sector of the eastern theatre, including areas adjoining the Sikkim sector.

Such engagements are particularly relevant in a region defined by difficult mountainous terrain, harsh weather and sensitive border areas. In these conditions, sustaining readiness depends on continuous training, strong logistics, infrastructure support and close coordination between formations and units.

The Army Commander’s interaction with troops also highlighted the importance placed on professionalism, discipline and operational preparedness. Senior commanders’ direct engagement with personnel deployed in challenging environments helps them remain closely connected to the concerns, requirements and experiences of troops on the ground.

The visit to Tezpur and Sukna reflected the Eastern Command’s continuing focus on operational effectiveness across its area of responsibility. Meetings with frontline formations remain an important part of command-level leadership and assessment.

Lt Gen Krishnan’s visit also served to recognise the dedication of soldiers serving in demanding operational settings and to reinforce the Army’s emphasis on readiness, professionalism and mission preparedness.

The visit comes amid the Indian Army’s continuing efforts to strengthen capabilities and preparedness in the eastern sector, while adapting to evolving operational requirements and maintaining high standards of service.
