Indian Army Conducts 'Divya Drishti' Exercise in Sikkim to Test Advanced AI and Surveillance Technologies

The Indian Army conducted a high-altitude military exercise named 'Divya Drishti' in East Sikkim in July 2025 to evaluate advanced surveillance and artificial intelligence technologies. This operation aimed to test the Army's readiness for future warfare by integrating AI-driven tools with both ground and aerial surveillance systems.

During the exercise, troops from the Trishakti Corps simulated combat scenarios using unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, and ground-based platforms to assess sensor-to-shooter capabilities. The exercise showcased key systems, including AI-enabled sensors connected through secure communication networks, facilitating real-time data transmission from forward positions to command centers.

The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the exercise focused on enhancing battlefield awareness and expediting decision-making processes. It noted that success on the modern battlefield relies on the ability to quickly perceive, understand, and respond to evolving situations.

Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (IS&C), evaluated the exercise on behalf of Army Headquarters. General Officer Commanding of Trishakti Corps, Lt Gen Zubin A Minwalla, stated that the technologies were tested in challenging conditions to derive actionable insights that will shape future doctrine and tactics.

The Army’s Eastern Command regarded the exercise as a move towards achieving greater self-reliance and digital transformation. This aligns with the Army’s Decade of Transformation plan and the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Officials indicated that insights from 'Divya Drishti' will be integrated into training and procurement strategies to ensure that the Indian Army remains at the forefront in high-tech conflict scenarios.
