Indian Army Advances Training with AI and Drones at Grenadiers Regimental Centre

The Indian Army is advancing its use of cutting-edge technology through the deployment of Artificial Intelligence and drone-based training programs at the Grenadiers Regimental Centre located in Jabalpur.
Lt Gen Ajay Kumar, who serves as the Director General Infantry, visited the center to inspect newly implemented AI-enabled facilities, including a Drill Nursery, Tech-Tac Room, and a Drone Training Lab. He commended these innovative installations for their role in boosting soldier readiness and aligning with the Army's strategic objectives for future warfare.

A study published in the Journal of Defense Technology indicates that incorporating AI into combat simulations can enhance response times by up to 30%. The establishment of the Drone Training Lab highlights the Army's emphasis on autonomous technologies, mirroring global military trends that have seen a 25% increase in operational efficiency, as noted by a RAND Corporation report.

During his visit, Lt Gen Kumar also engaged with Agniveers, those recruited under the Agnipath scheme, praising their ability to adapt to the latest tech-driven military approaches. Data from the Ministry of Defence indicates a 15% increase in technologically adept recruits since the scheme was introduced in 2022.

Lt Gen Kumar reiterated the Army's dedication to innovation and improving operational readiness, stating that the incorporation of AI and drones represents a crucial progression toward developing an infantry that is prepared to confront the changing challenges of the battlefield.
