Indian Army Advances Combat Medical Training with "Yodha Rakshak" Program at OTA Gaya

The Indian Army has significantly advanced its medical preparedness on the battlefield by successfully executing the "Yodha Rakshak Combat Casualty Care Capsule" at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya.

Conducted over two days, from August 26 to 27, the program trained 353 officer cadets and instructors in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). This system, acknowledged globally for saving up to 20% of preventable combat fatalities, was taught under the supervision of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC). The training included interactive lectures coupled with practical exercises using sophisticated medical simulation models, designed to mimic real-life battlefield conditions.

This initiative was organized in partnership with the Army Medical Corps Centre and College and the Military Hospital Gaya. Senior officers from the Army Medical Corps led the capsule, concentrating on practical decision-making and swift responses in combat emergencies.

The program is linked to the "Yodha Rakshak Bachav Kit Challenge," which was introduced earlier this year at ARMEDiCON 2025 in Pune. This challenge aims to promote indigenous innovation in military medical kits, thus reducing dependence on imported systems.

Officials have suggested that the success of the OTA Gaya capsule could serve as a model for similar training across other military academies, greatly enhancing the combat medical readiness of India’s armed forces.
