Indian Air Force Jawan Pulkit Tak Found Dead at Hasimara Air Base in West Bengal with Gunshot Wound

An Indian Air Force (IAF) jawan was discovered deceased with a gunshot wound at Hasimara Air Force Station, a significant location near the India-Bhutan border, marking a tragic event.

The individual has been identified as Pulkit Tak, hailing from Ajmer, Rajasthan. He was on duty at the time of the incident, and his body was subsequently transported to Alipurduar District Hospital for a post-mortem.

Authorities have yet to determine whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or caused by another factor. Initial findings indicate that Tak might have used his service revolver. An investigation is currently underway, and additional information is expected.

Hasimara Air Force Station is a pivotal IAF base, accommodating advanced fighter aircraft and serving a key role in the eastern sector due to its location near the India-Bhutan border and the strategic Siliguri Corridor.

This unfortunate event is not isolated. In December 2024, an Air Force sergeant named Javeer Singh, aged 36 from Haryana’s Bhiwani district, reportedly ended his own life at the Maintenance Command Center in Nagpur. He was discovered with a gunshot wound from his service firearm, raising issues regarding stress among military personnel.

IAF officials at Hasimara have not yet issued a public statement, citing the ongoing investigation. This incident underscores the importance of addressing mental health and stress management within the armed forces.
