Indian Air Force Commemorates Historic MiG-21 Retirement Ceremony
In a poignant ceremony at the Air Force Station in Pune, the Indian Air Force (IAF) officially retired the iconic MiG-21 fighter aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the nation's military aviation history.
The event was graced by current and former aircrew members, as well as personnel who have closely worked with the MiG-21 throughout its service years. The aircraft, which once played a crucial role as the IAF's primary fighter jet, received a ceremonial farewell, celebrating its distinguished service record and legacy.

Introduced into the IAF in the 1960s, the MiG-21 was instrumental in numerous conflicts, notably asserting air dominance during the 1971 war. For many fighter pilots, the aircraft was emblematic of the courage, expertise, and dedication required to defend the nation's airspace.
The farewell event included an emotional fly-past, alongside heartfelt honors from aircrew who reminisced about the aircraft's role as a steadfast protector of India's skies. The concluding salute marked not only the retirement of a storied fighter jet but also the end of a significant chapter in India's military aviation narrative.

With the MiG-21 officially retired from active duty, the IAF reaffirmed its commitment to uphold its legacy through modern aircraft such as the TEJAS, Rafale, and upcoming advanced combat platforms.
