India Commences 'Poorvi Prachand Prahar' Tri-Service Military Exercise in Arunachal Pradesh
India has initiated a tri-service military exercise named ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ in the mountainous regions of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh. This exercise is a strategic move aimed at bolstering joint warfighting competencies and technological synchronization among the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat indicated that the primary objective of the exercise is to validate multi-domain operations across land, air, and sea. This reflects the evolving readiness of the Armed Forces for warfare that is both technology-driven and forward-looking.
The exercise ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ is structured to improve interoperability among the services using networked command and control systems, real-time data sharing, and integrated mission simulations. These activities are intended to test innovative operational doctrines and decision-making processes specifically designed for combat in mountainous terrains.
A key feature will be the coordinated deployment of special forces, unmanned aerial and ground systems, precision-guided weapons, and AI-enabled data networks, all working in tandem to replicate realistic high-altitude combat situations.
Additionally, the military drill will examine updated tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to enhance agility, adaptability, and rapid response capabilities in challenging environments. This is part of a broader initiative by India to develop a joint-force structure that can conduct multi-domain operations smoothly and efficiently.
‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ builds upon previous successful joint exercises such as ‘Bhala Prahar’ (2023) and ‘Poorvi Prahar’ (2024), each contributing to India's roadmap for tri-service integration. These exercises collectively signify a continued effort to enhance operational efficacy along India’s critical eastern borders.
Lt Col Mahendra Rawat emphasized that this exercise underscores the Indian Armed Forces' commitment to achieving operational synergy, embracing technological advancement, and ensuring national defense preparedness. It highlights India’s capability to respond assertively across all domains of warfare.
