India and Australia Launch AUSTRAHIND 2025 Joint Military Exercise in Perth

The fourth edition of the India-Australia Joint Military Exercise, named 'AUSTRAHIND 2025', has officially begun in Perth, Australia. This event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to bolster defense relations and operational collaboration between the two countries.
According to information from the Ministry of Defence, the exercise involves a contingent of 120 members from the Indian Army. This two-week event, which is set to conclude on October 26, 2025, features a Battalion of the Gorkha Rifles along with personnel from various supporting arms and services.
The primary objective of this joint exercise is to enhance military cooperation and interoperability between the Indian and Australian Armies. It provides an opportunity for both forces to share tactics, techniques, and procedures pertinent to sub-conventional warfare, focusing particularly on urban and semi-urban terrains.
This year's exercise emphasizes joint company-level operations within open and semi-desert terrain. Activities will include joint planning, tactical drills, and the application of special arms skills. The event will also incorporate emerging military technologies, facilitating effective coordination in complex combat settings.
Officials have highlighted that 'AUSTRAHIND 2025' offers a valuable platform for both armies to refine their operational capabilities, enhance mutual trust, and foster camaraderie.
The ongoing cooperation reflects the strengthening India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and reaffirms the commitment of both nations to maintaining peace, stability, and a free Indo-Pacific region.
