Gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar as Army Confronts Terrorists

A fierce gunfight erupted on Sunday morning in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir when the Indian Army made contact with terrorists in the Dul area during an intelligence-driven operation. The White Knight Corps confirmed the incident on social media, noting, "Gunfire exchanged. Operation under progress."
This encounter follows the tragic loss of two soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who were killed in overnight firing in Kulgam. This clash, part of the enduring 'Operation Akhal', reached its ninth day on Saturday. Initiated on August 1 based on credible intelligence about terrorist activity, the operation has resulted in the death of at least one terrorist thus far.
The Chinar Corps honored the fallen soldiers, commending their bravery and commitment. "Their supreme sacrifice will forever inspire us. The Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families," the Corps stated.
Security forces, comprising the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG), continue their operations in Kishtwar and Kulgam, highlighting ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks in the area.
