In Udhampur, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, honored a group of esteemed veterans for their remarkable contributions to nation-building, social welfare, and community empowerment.

The veterans recognized included Lt Col Som Raj Sharma (Retd), Lt Col Balwant Singh (Retd), Honorary Captain Raj Kumar (Retd), Subedar Gyan Singh (Retd), a veteran of the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars, Naik Charan Singh (Retd), Havildar Bharat Bhushan (Retd), and Honorary Naib Subedar Gulbadan Singh (Retd).

General Dwivedi acknowledged the significant impact these veterans have made even after their military service, through their dedication to social work and community involvement. Their efforts have notably improved the lives of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and local communities throughout the region.

Engaged in a variety of welfare initiatives, the veterans have provided assistance in pension matters, supported educational and rehabilitation programs, mentored youth, and contributed to grassroots development projects.
