General Upendra Dwivedi Assesses Operational Readiness and Sustainability Initiatives in Kumaon Region During Diwali Visit

General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff, conducted a visit to the Panchshul Brigade in Pithoragarh and forward areas in the Kumaon Region. This visit was aimed at reviewing the operational readiness and celebrating Diwali with troops stationed in high-altitude regions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Throughout his visit, the COAS received detailed briefings on crucial operational elements. These included the integration of technology, collaboration with other security agencies, and various nation-building initiatives by the formation to enhance civil-military cooperation in the area.

General Dwivedi acknowledged the formation's efforts in implementing geothermal energy solutions and other environmentally friendly initiatives, emphasizing the Army's dedication to sustainable defence infrastructure. He highlighted the innovative use of underground storage systems for water and fuel, which provide logistical resilience and sustainability during severe winter conditions.

While addressing officers and soldiers, the Army Chief admired their exemplary professionalism, operational preparedness, and steadfast dedication in serving amidst some of the most challenging terrains in the Himalayas.

He commended the troops for their strong morale and commitment, emphasizing their critical role in ensuring national security and maintaining peace along India's northern borders.

General Upendra Dwivedi's visit to the Kumaon Region on the Diwali eve highlighted the Army leadership's personal connection with the soldiers and reinforced the ethos of service before self, a core principle of the Indian Army.
