General Dhiraj Seth Pays Homage to Martyrs, Holds Talks with Nepali Army Chief in Kathmandu

Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth paid homage to fallen soldiers in Kathmandu on Monday by laying a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, as part of his official visit to Nepal from August 17 to 19.

The wreath-laying ceremony was held in tribute to personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. The gesture reflected the military tradition of honouring those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

General Seth later called on General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepali Army, for discussions on matters of mutual interest. The two Army Chiefs also explored ways to further strengthen bilateral military relations between Nepal and India.

The interaction came against the backdrop of the longstanding professional relationship between the Indian Army and the Nepali Army, built on close historical and military ties. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued military-to-military engagement and to expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The talks also offered an opportunity to deepen professional exchanges and mutual understanding between the two armies.

General Seth’s engagements in Kathmandu are part of his broader visit to Nepal, which the Indian Army said is aimed at further consolidating the close defence partnership between the two countries.

The visit, combining a solemn tribute at the memorial with meetings at the highest military level, highlighted the continuing bonds of friendship, mutual respect and defence cooperation between India and Nepal.
