General Dhiraj Seth Lauds Retiring Army Officers at New Delhi Seminar, Calls Them Yoddhas Beyond Uniform
New Delhi, October 23, 2026: Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth met senior Indian Army officers who are set to retire on October 31, 2026, during the Retiring Officers’ Seminar, and thanked them for decades of dedicated service to the nation.
The interaction was intended to recognise the careers of officers who have served the Army in senior leadership roles and are now approaching superannuation. General Seth praised them for their professionalism, selfless commitment and the contribution they have made to preserving the Indian Army’s traditions, values and operational standards.
In his address, the Army Chief underlined that retirement does not end a soldier’s responsibility to the country. He described the officers as “Yoddhas Beyond Uniform”, saying that the ethos of a soldier remains unchanged whether one is in uniform or has moved on to civilian life.

General Seth also urged the retiring officers to remain active contributors to society and nation-building after leaving service, drawing on the leadership, discipline and experience they have accumulated over their military careers.
The seminar itself is designed as an important platform for officers nearing retirement, offering them an opportunity to reflect on their service and prepare for the next phase of life beyond the Army.
The Army Chief’s remarks reflected the institution’s continued respect for personnel at the end of their careers and its recognition that service to the nation can continue in different forms after uniformed duty ends.

By framing retired officers as “Yoddhas Beyond Uniform”, General Seth reinforced a longstanding military sentiment: while active service ends with superannuation, the values, experience and sense of duty developed in uniform can continue to serve the nation in civilian life.
