General Anil Chauhan Highlights Strategic Preparedness at Military Nursing Service Centenary Event

During the Military Nursing Service (MNS) centenary event at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan highlighted the importance of the Indian Armed Forces staying vigilant against emerging threats. He stressed the need to be ready for future bio-threats, radiological incidents, and changes in nuclear deterrence strategies.

Celebrating a century of dedicated service, General Chauhan praised military nurses as "the heartbeat of healthcare," acknowledging their significant role in maintaining the health and readiness of the armed forces. He pointed out the essential task of ensuring the emotional and psychological welfare of nursing staff, enabling them to provide effective and compassionate care even under challenging circumstances.

The CDS commended the MNS for its dedication, resilience, and selfless service, describing it as a model of integration across the three Services. He remarked that the MNS is a crucial element of India’s defence framework, effectively linking healthcare with operational capabilities both on the frontlines and beyond.

In a historic move during the event, General Chauhan introduced "Précis 2025 – Self-Compassion, Care of the Caregivers," an initiative focusing on promoting self-care among nurses. He also honored veteran members of the MNS, whose unwavering commitment has bolstered the nation’s healthcare framework and enhanced the Indian Armed Forces’ preparedness.

The centenary celebration not only honored a hundred years of steadfast service but also reaffirmed the evolving role of the MNS in maintaining the health and morale of military personnel—a mission that remains as critical now as it was a century ago.
