General Anil Chauhan Highlights Need for Multi-Domain Preparedness During Southern Command Visit

General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff, recently visited the Southern Command Headquarters in Pune, where he addressed officers from all three services. During his speech, he emphasized the necessity of being prepared to face an increasingly complex security landscape.

General Chauhan pointed out the current geopolitical situation, characterized by both conventional and sub-conventional warfare, as well as the growing significance of non-traditional domains. He noted the rapid changes in modern warfare trends and stressed that future conflicts would require integrated responses spanning land, air, maritime, cyber, and space domains.

He highlighted the necessity of developing credible capabilities across all these domains to effectively counter dynamic and hybrid threats. General Chauhan stressed the importance of deeper inter-service integration, flexible force structures, and the swift adoption of new technologies as key elements for achieving operational success.

The Chief of Defence Staff also called for targeted investments in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), as well as cyber capabilities and improved situational awareness. He remarked that decision-making superiority and speed would be crucial factors across the entire spectrum of conflict. General Chauhan encouraged commanders to embrace joint operations, innovation, and adaptability to protect national interests in a rapidly evolving security environment.

The visit reiterated the Armed Forces' commitment to collaborative planning, modernization driven by technology, and integrated operations to tackle current and future challenges.
