General Anil Chauhan Evaluates Joint Force Integration at Western Naval Command

On Saturday, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan paid a visit to the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Mumbai to review operational readiness and promote joint efforts within the armed forces. During his visit, he engaged in high-level discussions with Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the command, emphasizing the importance of strategic integration across the services.
General Chauhan was briefed on the command’s operational capabilities in the Arabian Sea, an area of strategic importance due to increasing Chinese naval activities. Addressing naval officers, he stressed the necessity of tri-service synergy in future conflicts, highlighting the crucial role of jointness during Operation Sindoor Cup in May 2025. This operation successfully neutralized over 100 terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba through precision strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The success of the operation has also fostered inter-service morale, leading to the organization of a friendly cricket match between an Army XI and Parliament XI in Kanpur.
General Chauhan commended the professionalism of the Western Naval Command and stressed the importance of integrated command structures. He referenced the Indian Armed Forces’ Joint Doctrine of 2017 as the basis for ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing combat effectiveness.
Internal defence assessments indicate that tri-service operations have led to a 15 percent improvement in mission efficiency. The visit by the CDS occurs amid a broader initiative to establish theatre commands and operational coherence, as India contends with evolving threats on both land and sea borders.
This engagement between military leadership and field units reflects a sustained commitment to modernization, joint planning, and enhanced warfighting abilities through the seamless integration of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
