From Software Engineer to Military Cadet: Srijana Ghalley's Inspirational Journey at OTA Chennai
Foreign Officer Cadet Srijana Ghalley hails from a modest family of eight in Samtse, Bhutan. Her upbringing was far removed from military traditions, having had little exposure to the world of armed forces during her early years.
A pivotal moment in her youth altered her life's trajectory when she witnessed a military officer passing through her village. The sight of the officer's crisp uniform left a profound impression on her, sparking an ambition to don a uniform and serve her nation.
From that point, Srijana's aspirations were firmly set on a future in the military.
Academic Excellence and a Corporate Career
With a focus on building a strong educational foundation, Srijana pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. Upon completion of her studies, she embarked on a career as a software engineer at Selise in Bhutan.
Her role in the corporate sector provided stability and a promising future in technology. Despite the comforts and opportunities of corporate life, she felt a stronger pull towards service and leadership.
The urge to serve her nation eventually surpassed the allure of corporate success.

Choosing Service Over Comfort

She joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, an esteemed institution tasked with training officers for the Indian Army and allied foreign nations.
Her entry into the academy marked the commencement of a transformative journey characterized by discipline, endurance, and perseverance.
Rigorous Training at OTA Chennai
The life of an officer cadet at OTA Chennai is designed to test their physical, mental, and emotional capacities. For nine rigorous months, Srijana underwent demanding routines that included tactical exercises, physical endurance challenges, and leadership development.
