DG BSF Praveen Kumar Pips Narendra Singh to Deputy Inspector General Rank in New Delhi
The Border Security Force on Friday held a pipping ceremony at its Force Headquarters in New Delhi to formally promote Shri Narendra Singh from Commandant to Deputy Inspector General (DIG), with DG BSF Shri Praveen Kumar, IPS, pinning the new rank insignia on him.
The ceremony marked the officer’s elevation to a senior leadership position in the force and was attended by his family members as well as senior BSF officers. Their presence gave the event a personal dimension alongside its official and professional significance, acknowledging both the officer’s service and the support system behind it.

Shri Narendra Singh has served the BSF with dedication, and his promotion reflects the organisation’s recognition of his professional contribution, leadership and commitment to the responsibilities entrusted to him over the course of his career. As DIG, he will now take on broader duties within the force structure and continue contributing to BSF’s operational and organisational objectives.
DG BSF Shri Praveen Kumar congratulated the newly promoted officer and extended his best wishes for a successful and fulfilling tenure in the new appointment. He also wished him continued excellence in the responsibilities that lie ahead.
The pipping ceremony also reflected the BSF’s long-standing traditions of discipline, pride in service and formal recognition of merit. Such occasions are a regular part of the force’s professional culture, where promotions are marked with ceremonial dignity and with due acknowledgement of sustained commitment to national service.
