Desa Squadron Wins Commandant’s Banner: Flight Cadet Vatan Dhindsa Honored at Air Force Academy Ceremony
On May 30, Desa Squadron was declared the Champion Squadron for the Spring Term 2026 at the Air Force Academy Dundigal. The announcement was made during the Commandant’s Banner Conferment Ceremony at the Tejas Parade Ground.
The prestigious Commandant’s Banner, which honors the best overall performing squadron, was presented to Flight Cadet Vatan Dhindsa, the Squadron Cadet Captain of Desa Squadron, by Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin, Commandant of the Air Force Academy.
This accolade acknowledges exceptional performance in various disciplines, including academics, sports, debates, quizzes, drill competitions, cross-country events, field camps, and physical training.
Naidu Squadron emerged victorious in the final competition event, the Inter Squadron Drill Competition, showcasing remarkable precision, coordination, and teamwork in their drills.
The ceremony included a formal parade by Flight Cadets and Under Training Flying Officers (UTFOs), who marched with precision in front of senior officers and instructors. The No. 3 Air Force Band provided martial tunes, enhancing the ceremonial atmosphere.
Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin addressed the attendees, commending the cadets for their commitment, teamwork, and competitive spirit. He urged them to maintain physical fitness, mental resilience, and professional dedication throughout their careers, in line with the Academy’s motto, “Shram Se Siddhi” (Achievement Through Hard Work).
The Commandant also praised the instructors and training staff for their contribution to developing future leaders of the Indian Air Force and preparing them for operational service challenges.
The Commandant’s Banner Ceremony concluded another successful training term at the Air Force Academy, highlighting excellence, leadership, and exemplary military professionalism.
