Delhi Police Detain Aviation Firm Director in Brigadier Assault Case

The Delhi Police have detained two individuals linked to an alleged attack on a serving Indian Army Brigadier and his family in Vasant Enclave.

Identified as Satender alias Sonu, aged 49, who is a director at an aviation firm, and Sanjay Sharma, aged 56, a local dhaba owner, the suspects are residents of Mehram Nagar. They were apprehended as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident reportedly occurred on April 11 at approximately 10 PM, after the Brigadier's family raised concerns about two men allegedly drinking alcohol inside a car near their home. The situation reportedly intensified when the accused summoned more individuals to the scene.

According to the complaint, a group of 7–8 men attacked the Brigadier and his 23-year-old son, an IIT-Delhi graduate, and behaved inappropriately with the Brigadier’s wife.

The family has claimed that despite a PCR vehicle arriving at the location, police personnel failed to effectively intervene during the attack.

Authorities confirmed that the vehicle involved has been confiscated, and the two suspects are being interrogated to determine the sequence of events and their roles in the incident.

An initial inquiry revealed shortcomings by the investigating officer, who has been reassigned to District Lines while further actions are considered.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has voiced concern over the incident, mandating a prompt and comprehensive investigation.

He also issued orders for the provision of adequate security to the officer and his family, emphasizing the administration's dedication to upholding law and order.

The case has spotlighted issues concerning public safety and police response protocols in the national capital. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may ensue based on the findings.
