Delhi High Court Rejects Celina Jaitly's Plea About Brother's UAE Detention
The Delhi High Court has rejected a petition filed by actor Celina Jaitly concerning her brother, Vikrant Jaitly, who is currently being held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The court determined that the petition could not move forward after learning that Vikrant Jaitly did not wish to pursue legal help or maintain communication with his sister, opting instead to manage the situation himself following discussions with his wife.
Vikrant Jaitly Declines Legal Support
The matter was reviewed on March 16, 2026, by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, who highlighted that Vikrant had been granted consular access but had refused several offers of legal aid, including a complimentary offer from a law firm based in the UAE.
Celina Jaitly had requested assistance for legal costs and permission to communicate with her brother; however, Vikrant turned down both requests.
Wife Requests Privacy
During the court proceedings, Vikrant Jaitly’s wife, Charul Jaitly, asked that the details of the case remain confidential. The court instructed authorities to keep in touch with Vikrant and provide any assistance that is permissible by law.
In concluding the case, the court found no justification to keep the petition active and therefore closed the matter.
Background of the Case
Major (Retd.) Vikrant Jaitly, a former officer in the Indian Army and brother of Celina Jaitly, has been detained in the UAE since September 6, 2024. Although reports suggest a connection to national security issues, specific charges have not been made public.
Prior to his detention, Vikrant had been living in the UAE since 2016 and was said to be employed by a consultancy firm.
The case has received attention due to the vagueness surrounding the charges and restricted communication, even as authorities continue to observe the situation through official channels.
