CRPF Personnel Collapses, Dies in Srinagar’s Lal Bazar; Cause Under Verification
Srinagar, October 1: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died on Thursday after collapsing and being found unconscious at Mill Stop in the Lal Bazar area of Srinagar, officials said.
According to officials, the jawan became unconscious at the spot and was immediately taken to a hospital. Doctors there declared him brought dead.
The exact cause of death has not yet been established and is being verified. Authorities have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated the prescribed formalities.
So far, official accounts have not disclosed the deceased personnel’s rank or name, the battalion he belonged to, his age or his native place. The hospital where he was taken has also not been identified. No official statement from the CRPF had been issued at the time of reporting.
Lal Bazar is among the localities in Srinagar where CRPF units remain deployed as part of the security grid. Further details, including the outcome of the medical examination and arrangements for the last rites, were awaited.
